Animal Cells

                                                          Animal cells

Cells are the basic building blocks of all living things. The human body is composed of many many cells. They provide structure for the body, take in nutrients from food, convert those nutrients into energy, and carry out specialized functions. Cells have many parts, each with a different function.

However cell structures of humans and plants are quite different.

It is clear to see from the image above that their structures are quite different, Where the plant cell is more square there the animal cell is circular but not a perfect circle. This is due to the lack of cell wall in an animal cell.                                                                                                     Well like us human who have many different organs to function these cells have organelles. Organelles are like organs but carry out different functions and are much much smaller!
Now the question arises of what a cell wall is?
And of course how these cells function?

In the photo above we can see that an animal cell has various different organelles. But lets talk about the following-

1)Mitochondria- Mitochondria, also known as "the powerhouse of the cell" provides energy to throughout the cell to the organelles so they have the energy to carry out their functions

2).Nucleus- This can be considered the control center of the cell. The nucleus controls all activities in the cell. It also carries the genes of the person.
3)Cytoplasm- It is a thick liquid which hold all the organelles in the cell and is enclosed by the cell membrane.
4)Cell Membrane- Also known as the plasma membrane. It surrounds and protects the cell from any unwanted substances. It also acts like a gate for the nutrients to enter the cell and for the waste product to go out of the cell.
5)Golgi apparatus/body-  It is located near the nucleus and does the production of enzymes, absorbs compounds and stores protein.
6)Vacuoles-  Membrane-bound sac within the cytoplasm that serve function such as storage, waste disposal, protection, and growth.
    7) Lysosomes- Sphere shaped sacs that are filled with hydrolytic enzymes that have the capability to break down many types of biomolecules. They are also known as suicide bags since al waste products and unwanted materials are digested here.
    8) Ribosomes- They produce proteins from amino acids during the process called protein synthesis. Ribosomes can be found floating within the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum.

These are only a few of the many organelles present in the cell. There are many more with various different and interesting functions!

Here are some fun facts about cells!
1- All living things are made of cells. some are multicellular containing alot of cells and there are some that are unicellular, which mean they are just a single cell!

2- Cells  provide structure for the body, take in nutrients from food and carry out important functions.

3- Almost 100000000000 cells die everyday and are replace by new ones!!

If your having trouble revising/studying or remembering, follow these tips-

Tip: Go outside! Fresh air is essential to freshen not only you but your mind!!

Tip: Limit your session time! example- Study for 30-45 minutes and take a break! In this time try not to distract yourself but just relax. Your brain needs a rest too!

Tip- Remove all distractions and try eliminating any noise in your surroundings. This will reduce your level of distraction and help you focus.

If you still have a hard time DO NOT WORRY. It will be okay. Ask an adult like parent/teacher for help!
